Napping with Truman in NYC

I'm on my way out to dublin ireland but I wanted to stop off and see my new little nephew. So I flew out a smidge early and popped into the city and caught a few winks while liz was able to have a nap herself and run to the bank. Dang if he isn't a good little snuggler! Thanks for the super cute nephew Liz and Mark...

Seeing the Aurora Borealis in Fairbanks (updated)

Monday Mar 24th, I flew up to see Pam and Verdi up in Fairbanks and to see the northern lights. I took our non stop flight on Anchorage and then missing the last connection to Fairbanks I got to sleep (liberally used word) in the airport.

Pam was SO excited to see a friendly face, not that the people of Fairbanks are not friendly cause they totally are, but come on.. Look at me.. Im SUPER friendly!..

So I was taken on a tour of the city. They just had the World Ice Sculpting competitions there and so I got a few pics of what was still standing. Some had melted but not all of them.

We went and had lunch at a super Yummy chinese food place in.. GUESS where! North Pole Alaska! It just goes to show that you can find Chinese food anywhere! We ate at the Pagoda and I gotta tell ya, It really was good! But the real reason we went to North Pole was to see Santa's workshop.

But they were closed! Now I know what you are thinking. Santa's Workshop NEVER CLOSES! But they were.. I think they were on vacation after working a hard Christmas Season this year. After all the human population is increasing exponentially!

The next day we went out to see the Alaskan Pipeline. It runs the oil from the Northern Alaskan Oil Fields all the way down to Anchorage so then it can be shipped to the 'Lower 48'.

Yes Pam and I are 'surfing' the pipeline.
Here is a 'Pig', for those of you who have seen the James Bond movies, this is what he crossed the border accept he was in Russia or Germany.
The Pipeline is raised off the ground and there is Permafrost under the ground all the way there.. Go look up Permafrost cause I'm still a bit confused on the whole issue.

We totally scored and had a great view of the lights. I dont even know how to describe right now how amazing they were but don't worry ill get back on and update this blog. I'm just totally wiped out from traveling and have to work 11 hours tomorrow.

Where is my maid?

Can I say that I hate cleaning?
Actually I just hate cleaning up after myself. I really don't mind doing the dishes (if it wasn't me that cooked) and picking up after the nieces or nephews. I really hate cleaning up after ME. The biggest slob in the world? Maybe.. I think its just the fact that as I clean up after myself I am forced to reckon with the fact that I make a bigger mess than those cute little munchkins that come and play at Nanna and Bubbas house. Do I really just rip off my clothing and toss it in a corner? Do I really have THAT many tee shirts? Who needs 14 pairs of jeans? and why do I have 35 button down long sleeve and twice as many short sleeved shirts? Am I a compulsory shopper? Do I need all this stuff? Ok lets be honest here, I do look great in all of it. BUT I live in my work uniform and my pajamas! Sure I get the occasional escape to the normal world on my days off but that is 2 days a week! 8 days a month!
With all that said. Its spring cleaning time chez mike. Yes Ive loaded up all the crap that I haven''t worn in oh what 2 years and tossed it out. Thanks to my inspiring baby sister I feel like I need to do this. Katie Ann has adapted a policy that is she buys one thing she has to throw something of the same out. A sweater for a sweater. Socks for socks and so forth. It really is a liberating feeling! Now if only I could convince myself to do the same for DVD's.. JUST KIDDING!!! they stay!
Ok Now I can get back to cleaning my room and doing my laundry...
Deep breath!

Good morning Shadow

Its been so long since we've seen eachother. We all know I'm not much of a morning person, especially when it comes to work. 2 days in a row now I've met the morning head on and worked extra hours at work. Now if only I could hold these kind of hours....
